Ship 46 S.S. Constantin - About us
Sea Scouts, BSA is a program of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women ages 14 to 20. https://seascout.org/
The Purpose of Sea Scouts
For over 100 years Sea Scouting has promoted better citizenship and improved members’ boating skills through instruction and practice in water safety, boating skills, outdoor, social, service experiences, and knowledge of our maritime heritage.
The Sea Scout Program
Sea Scout units– called ships- are established all across the country on oceans, bays, rivers, and lakes. They provide limitless opportunities and exciting challenges that you won’t find anywhere else. Sea Scouts is a place to grow and learn, find adventure, and build long lasting friendships.
Ship 46 S.S. Constantin
We were founded in 2020 for the triple purposes of Training, Service & Teaching, and Fun. We are chartered out of Church of the Apostles, Episcopal Church, in Coppell, TX but our activities center at the Circle Ten Council’s Camp Constantin and Jack D. Furst Aquatic Base in Graford, TX on Possum Kingdom Lake.
Our goal is to provide our members, youth and adults, with education and knowledge in multiple aquatic disciplines and then have fun using those skills on the water. We also plan to provide merit badge instruction for Camp Constantin and the other Circle Ten camps. We will focus on swimming, lifesaving, motorboating, water sports (skiing & wakeboarding), sailing, and paddle craft (canoeing, kayaking, rowing). In the future we hope to expand into snorkeling and scuba.
Activities
Our schedule includes training and skills practice in the late fall and winter with limited time “in the water” but some time “on the water”. In the spring we will move toward time both in and on the water. Summer involves supporting our camps by providing trained staff and support teams. In late summer we plan to focus on fun for the ship.
